Meet the Founder

In Montessori pedagogy, a teacher is called a Directress, because she directs the children in their own learning.

Ms. Žaneta is a Montessori Elementary Directress, nanny, governess, and children's mindfulness facilitator. She has a heartfelt desire to serve and support children as they grow into their full expression.

Aligning with Dr. Maria Montessori's philosophy, Žaneta emphasizes the crucial role of adults in preparing an environment that fosters children's natural process of learning and discovery.

Integrating 16 years of experience in childcare and education, Žaneta created the Cosmic Citizens Club to take Dr. Montessori's philosophy beyond the classroom.

Our Values

At the core of the Cosmic Citizens Club lies the belief that children possess all they need to develop and thrive: curiosity, playfulness, creativity, and wonder. That's why the Great Stories are expertly crafted to ignite and nurture these innate qualities, guiding them toward the marvels of the natural world.

Our aim isn't just to convey knowledge but to inspire children to connect deeply with their cosmic home. To achieve this, we've updated and adapted Dr. Montessori's Cosmic Education to facilitate intellectual and embodied engagement of all senses and faculties.

Each story thoughtfully balances the amount of information children take in with opportunities to discover and create.

Your child will be enthralled by the beauty of our cosmos, and through their interaction with these stories, be empowered with the knowing that they belong here, and that they too can impact and contribute to the beauty of our cosmic home.

  • How does booking work?
Once you purchase an Immersion ticket for your child or children through the website, we will be reaching out within 24 hours to schedule a day that works for you and others in attendance. Immersions generally begin at 9:00 AM, and conclude at 4:00 PM. Exact times are dependent on the schedule of the venue, location, and traffic.
  • Who will be there?
Žaneta will be picking your children up and guiding them through the day's activities. You can learn more about her at the bottom of the About page. Up to six children can attend each Immersion--please share the Immersions you're interested in with your child's friends so they can join in! At least two children must be in attendance for an Immersion to run.
  • How many children per Immersion?
Just five or six. The SUV used for transport can accommodate a sixth child if they are tall enough to ride in the front seat, with their adult's permission. We have one booster seat, further other car seats must be provided by parents.
  • How is transport happening?
Žaneta will pick all children up from an agreed-upon location local to the families who have booked for that day, and drop them all off at the same location at the end of the day. The Vehicle is a Subaru Ascent, it seats five children in the back, plus one child in the front seat with their parent's permission if they are at least 8 years old and above 4'9 (56"). The car has one booster seat, pictured, please bring your own if you require another.
  • Does my child need to bring anything?
Lunch Snack Water bottle Sunscreen Cap or hat optional
  • Why do children have to bring their own lunches if you stop at restaurants?
The restaurants we stop at will be part of the cultural experience of the field trip. If we are learning about Hinduism, we will order a sharing plate of a child-friendly dish, probably a dessert like gulab jamun, for the children to sample. Children enjoy consistency with their meals, and no matter how delicious the phở may be, they're not interested. Bringing their own lunches ensures that children will have a belly full of a well-rounded, beloved meal, so that trying something new is a welcome option, not a forced necessity.
  • I booked an Immersion but have to cancel.
If you cancel more than 6 days before the Immersion, you will receive a full refund. If you cancel less than 6 days before the Immersion, you will receive a 50% refund, and the other 50% will be credited to a future Immersion. If you must cancel and can refer a family willing to book the Immersion in your child's place, you can receive a full refund up to 24 hours in advance.
  • Explain the cost?
Each Immersion is $200 per child plus venue fees if applicable, and is about 7 hours long. If more than one of your children are joining, the second and third child will each be $155 for the day. Rates are halved for half-day events. All art & craft materials, parking fees, and cultural dishes will be covered by the daily rate. This also pays for Cosmic Citizens Club research and development, busienss expenses and insurance, our vehicle, and it's maintenance.
  • I have a different question.
Please reach out via the chat or email zaneta@cosmicCC.co, and we'll get back to you as soon as we can!
  • Who is The Great Stories curriculum for?
The Great Stories curriculum is designed for children between the ages of 6 and 12. While all children will learn from and enjoy the curriculum, older children will be given more opportunities for deep research and learning. The Great Stories are designed for the homeschooling family, learning pod, or microschool.
  • How are The Great Stories taught?
The Great Stories will be presented by a certified Montessori teacher who comes to your home. Each session is approximately 90 minutes in length, but may vary based on how many children are in attendance and their learning style. The Story of the Universe and Earth is told in six sessions, The Story of Life is told in eight sessions, and The Story of Humans is told in six sessions. Once made available, The Story of Language and The Story of Math will each be told in five sessions. The presentations consist of storytelling, books, posters, science experiments, art projects, and other hands-on activities that will bring these "hard science" lessons to life. Based on availibility, you will choose a day and time that best suits your family.
  • Are these stories religious?
The Great Stories were originally designed by Dr. Maria Montessori, a Catholic, to be based only on the discoveries of science. In the past, Dr. Montessori's son, Mario, taught the stories with the inclusion of a "God with no hands" to describe the creation, patterns, and progression of the universe. Currently, this is not the default teaching verbage of the Cosmic Citizens Club. If your family prefers to work and learn in the context of a Divine Creator, this can easily be included as the foundational origin and explanation of the first great story, The Story of The Universe and Earth. "The Big Bang" is, after all, sometimes called "Science's one free miracle," for it still evades our human explanations.
  • Does my child have to enroll in The Great Stories in order?
Yes. Cosmic Education is intended to show the connection between and interdependence of all phenomena in the known universe. Presenting the stories in sequence makes these connections possible. The Story of Life is an essential prerequesite to The Story of Humans. However, if your child already has a strong foundation in the formation of the first 4.5 billion years of the universe, as well as the Hadean and Archean Eras of Earth's geologic history, you may contact us for a single 90-minute session summarizing The Story of the Universe ($150), and they may jump straight into The Story of Life at the next session.

Dr. Maria Montessori's
Great Stories
A Series for the Homeschooling Family

Set along a dramatized narrative that initiates at the Big Bang, this series of impressionistic stories ignites a sense of wonder in children, granting them understanding and appreciation for the interconnectedness of all things. This is a Deep Time, Big History perspective on the evolution of the universe itself.

Embedded within these inspiring stories is an interdisciplinary, systems approach to cosmology, geography, evolutionary biology, anthropology, history, linguistics, and mathematics.

Each of the five Great Stories is covered over 6 in-person presentations one week apart, with science experiments, beautiful materials, artistic demonstrations, and hands-on projects to build your child's concrete understanding of  these abstract and larger-than-life concepts.

However, the purpose is not just to convey factual information but to spark your child's curiosity and encourage further exploration and study. Your child will be offered opportunities and guidelines for additional study in between sessions.

Human history is seen as part of the history of our Earth and biosphere, and the Earth’s history, in turn, is seen as part of the history of the Universe. In this way, the different disciplines that make up this large story can be used to illuminate each other. The unified account of the past assembled in this way can help us understand our own place within the Universe.
